BEEF TACO PASTA SKILLET

One pan & 30 minutes is all it takes for cheesy beef taco pasta skillet dinner recipe. Tender pasta and taco seasoned ground beef simmer in salsa and beef broth and then gets covered in cheese. Serve with all your favorite taco toppings for an easy and simple dinner.

Servings: 6 servings

Ingredients
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) reduced sodium beef broth
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 2 cups dried small pasta
  • 1-2 cups shredded cheese (any variety)

Instructions
  1. In a skillet pan with a lid and sides, brown ground beef over medium high heat until no longer pink. Drain.
  2. Add the taco seasoning, water, beef broth, and salsa. Stir together until combined. Add in the dry pasta and stir to make sure the pasta is covered in the liquid.
  3. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, cover with a lid and reduce heat to medium-low. Let cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Add half of the cheese and stir into the pasta and beef. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and cover with the lid so that the cheese melts.
  5. Serve with all your favorite taco toppings.
Notes
  • I always use mild taco seasoning because the regular seems to spicy for my kids. You can also just use your own spices to make a homemade taco seasoning. One packet is equal to about 2-3 tablespoons.
  • Use any small pasta. I used a mini penne pasta. You can also use medium or small shells, bow tie, or a spiral pasta. You just want a smaller pasta so that it is sure to cook all the way through.
  • Use as much or as little cheese as wanted. No matter how much you use, mix in half of it to the cooked pasta and then sprinkle the remaining half on top and let it melt. Use any cheese you want. We love Colby-Jack so that is what I always use.
